ARC Fitness & Gym

ARC Fitness opened its doors December 2021 with the goal of providing an inclusive, accessible and affordable place for people to exercise. Our Functional Fitness Gym boasts over 15 cardio stations, 7 squat racks, free weights, barbells and kettlebells. We also have a fantastic team of coaches and personal trainers available to help you on your fitness journey.

Our Class Timetable includes Functional Fitness, HIIT, Pilates, Olympic Weightlifting, Teens, 50+ Strength and Yoga classes.

We have a large open gym area where members can access the gym and use the facilities as and when they wish.

Opening Hours: Weekdays 6am-9pm, Saturday 8am-5pm, Sunday 9am-4pm

ARC Gym Memberships

Our Gym Memberships start at just £20 per month for off-peak open gym access with no minimal term contract or joining fees! If you enjoy group exercise, our class memberships are a fantastic way to get involved in our fantastic classes coached by our ARC Fitness Team. All our classes are appropriate for all ages, abilities and fitness levels, making them ideal for members who need a bit of extra support, and those who want a bit of a push!

  • Off Peak Basic Gym - just £20 per month for gym access between 9am and 5pm weekdays and anytime weekends.

  • Basic Gym - £24 per month for anytime access (£22 for U18’s - contact us to take out this membership) for unlimited use of our gym facilities, plus a discounted class fee of £6.

  • Double Gym - £35 per month includes basic open gym benefits plus 10 free classes per month.

  • Unlimited Gym - £50 per month includes unlimited open gym access and unlimited number of classes!

  • Teen Class Membership - £24 per month includes 10 classes every month just for teens. We have 3 Teen Fitness classes per week, covering a combination of strength and cardio based exercises. These sessions are about developing a love of exercise!

  • We also run an Inclusive class for those with disabilities and a Health class for people looking to improve their basic health and fitness…

PLUS combine any of our gym memberships with an adult racquet membership and you get 15% off the total price!

ARC Fitness Classes

Our ARC Fitness Classes are all led by our fantastic and highly qualified coaching team. We offer a variety of options to suit all your fitness goals, and all our classes are scaleable to suit any age, fitness level or ability. If you are not sure what classes are right for you, get in touch and we will be happy to help!

  • Functional Fitness - train with functional movements to improve your all around strength and fitness

  • Functional Strength - focus on weights and lifting technique to get you stronger

  • HIIT - get a blast of cardio with this fun interval style of training!

  • Women’s 50+ Strength - a steadier strength session for women over the age of 50

  • Pilates - movement, core and strength work

  • Olympic Weightlifting - learn the Olympic lifts and improve your weightlifting technique

  • Cardio Tennis - bounce to the beat and hit loads of balls in this fun Cardio workout!

  • Health Class - focused on building up the basic movements to help you get back to health

  • Inclusive Fitness - a class for people (16+) with mental and/or physical disabilities

  • Teens Fitness - a class for youngsters (12-16yrs) to learn about fitness and have fun!

  • Running Class - a relaxed class for beginners and all abilities, loop running, under 5k

  • Yoga - a mindful class that brings balance, strength and peace of mind

Functional Fitness

Functional Fitness is all about training for the rigours of life! These classes prioritise good technique and build strength through functional strength movements such as deadlifts, squats, presses, carries and bodyweight movements, as well as fun and varied workouts to get a sweat on!

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

Pilates

A low impact class focusing on core strength, balance, posture and flexibility.

50+ Strength (Women & Mixed Groups)

These classes are for people over the age of 50 looking for a steadier session to build up their strength and develop their confidence in the gym. We will prioritise learning good technique, whilst having a bit of fun too! This is a very ‘under-represented' group of people in our gym, so we hope by providing these classes we can create more opportunities for women to find their confidence and enjoyment of fitness.

All abilities are very welcome and everything we do is scalable and adaptable for everyone.

Olympic Weightlifting

Weightlifting is a popular class at ARC and one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. It improves your technique, strength, speed, power and mobility, but perhaps most of all it improves your confidence and proficiency in the gym. We start out light, teaching technique with PVC pipes before gradually moving up to lifting weights. Our Saturday morning class is open to all abilities, ages and levels of experience, so come along and try something new!

Functional Strength

A class focused on developing good movement and technique when lifting weights. We will primarily use barbells, kettlebells and dumbbells to build the 7 key functional movements: squat, hinge, push, pull, lunge, rotate and carry.

Cardio Tennis

A fun, sociable group fitness class set on a tennis court and open to people of all ages and abilities. Bounce to the beat and hit loads of balls in this fun Cardio workout.

Running Class

This class will take you on a run around the local area, led by our running coach.  All abilities are welcome however these sessions are specifically aimed at supporting beginner runners, providing a fun and inclusive group to help you become a better, more consistent runner.

Personal Training

Personal Training is often a great way to make faster progress towards your fitness goals. Our team are all highly qualified and experienced trainers. They coach on a self-employed basis around their group sessions at the gym and can offer either individual sessions or a block of personal training.

Our personal training starts at £17.50 for 30mins or £35 for 60mins sessions.

Meet our Coaches


Community & Competitions

Club Fitness Championships

Every year we host the ARC Club Championships across all our sports. This is always a fun event for members to compete against each other for the title of ARC Champion! In 2023 we ran the second ever ARC Fitness Club Championship. The competition consisted of 3 qualifying workouts to find the top men and women who went onto compete on finals day. The 2023 ARC Fitness champions were Estelle Liepa and James Liepa.

We will be running the ARC Fitness Championships once again in the summer of 2024.

Could you Volunteer for ARC Fitness?

We are currently recruiting a team of ARC Fitness volunteers to help us keep our community gym clean, tidy and running smoothly. If you think you could offer a bit of your time and/or expertise, we’d love to bring you on board! We have a thriving volunteer team (the Purple Team) here at ARC. Volunteering with us opens up lots of opportunities for up-skilling whilst contributing to our amazing community of users and members. We also host volunteer appreciation events which are always a good laugh!

ARC Fitness Socials

We host social events for our members a couple of times a year to give everyone the opportunity to get together and have a bit of fun outside the gym. Our most recent event was a day out Norsk Axe Throwing on Codden Hill which certainly produced a lot of laughs and a bit of competitive spirit!

End of Year Awards

In 2023 we celebrated the end of our second year as ARC Fitness. As part of this we recognised several members who made fantastic progress with their fitness over the year at our Annual ARC Awards night. Congratulations to our award winners and nominees:
