SUPERVISING CHILDREN
Our policy and rules for parents & guardians of children under the age of 18 whilst at the centre.
A key part of our vision & mission is to ensure that ARC is a ‘safe and supportive environment’. As such we take the safeguarding of children from abuse very seriously. Whilst we’re committed to ensuring that ARC is a safe space for all we feel it important to remind parents that the centre is a very busy place with a large number of people coming through its doors at all times of day and we therefore cannot guarantee that all areas of the site are safe spaces for unattended or unsupervised children.
Whilst we take full responsibility for the supervision of children during our organised coaching sessions we expect parents & guardians to take responsibility for supervision at all other times.
This takes the form of several practical rules which we would ask all parents of children under the age of 13 to follow:
If your child is attending a group coaching session they must be accompanied by you to the location of the session and until the coach has arrived. Children should not be dropped off in the car park and left to make their own way to the session.
Likewise, if your child is attending a group coaching session they must be collected by you from the location of the session at the end. Children will not be allowed to walk unattended to the car park to find their parent or guardian.
Children using the centre’s toilets or changing rooms must remain under the supervision of a parent/guardian at all times. We cannot guarantee that our toilets & changing rooms are a safe place for unattended children and must therefore ask that you supervise them during visits.
If your child is to be collected by someone other than you, you must inform the coach leading the session of this at the beginning of the session. Children being collected by an unknown adult or other parent will not be permitted to leave until we have been able to contact you.
Children should not be left to play, or be allowed to roam freely unattended around the centre unless under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
Children aged 13 & over:
If your child is aged over the age of 13 you are invited to complete a ‘Parental Consent Form’ which involves you giving your consent for your child to use the centre and its facilities unattended. Likewise you give consent for them to be allowed to leave/arrive at the session unattended (for example to walk home).
‘Parental consent forms’ can be completed at our reception or downloaded below
Children aged over the age of 13 whose parents have not completed a ‘parental consent’ form will be required to follow the same practical rules outlined above.
