ARC Hosts Successful LGBTQIA+ Make A Racket Festival

On Saturday 15th June ARC was proud to host our annual LGBTQIA+ Make A Racket Festival, welcoming LGBTQIA+ people and allies from across Devon who joined us for a fabulous afternoon of sporting activities. We were delighted to welcome Bideford’s Mayor Rachel Clarke for the event, the UK’s second ever transgender mayor.

The event was organised as part of ARC’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion month taking place throughout June, offering a range of exciting events for the local community that aim to ensure everyone feels able to enjoy sports and fitness in a fun, safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

Participants at our Make A Racket Festival enjoyed a series of taster sessions across Tennis, Walking Tennis, Racketball, Badminton and Table Tennis, run by ARC’s team of expert coaches.

There was plenty of friendly competition, with prizes won and freebies given away, all in the spirit of fun and inclusivity.

Following the success of our Making A Racket Festival, we’ll be looking at organising more events for LGBTQIA+ people and allies in the future.
