Racketlon Rules

The UK Racketlon official website hosts a very interesting ‘History of Racketlon’ if you want to find out even more about the sport. Click here to visit.

1. Order – The order of sports is Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash then Tennis.

2. Scoring – All games are PAR scoring to 21 and must be by decided by 2 clear points. E.g. 25-23 is a valid score

3. Rules – The rules of the individual sports apply, apart from in scoring/serving. E.g. hitting the net and landing the ball in is a ‘let’ in table tennis and tennis, but not in badminton. Squash rules are harder to understand for the beginner, but as a general rule please prioritise player safety. If you think someone is in the way of your swing or your shot to the front wall then stop play and ask for a let. If a player has played a loose shot and is blocking your swing or shot then call for a stroke. If in doubt, play a let rather than argue!

4. Serving – ‘Spin’ before Table Tennis to decide who serves first.

5. Serving – Two serves at a time then switch player. One serve from the right box and one from the left in that order (except Table Tennis where a player can serve from anywhere)

6. Serving – When changing sport the order of 1st server should alternate. E.g. If you win the ‘spin’ in table tennis then you serve 1st in TT, 2nd in Badminton and so on.

7. Serving – Players must switch ends halfway through each sport, so that’s when one player reaches 11 in a 21up game.

8. Serving – If the score reaches 20/20 then only 1 serve each until either player is 2 points ahead and wins the round.

9. Warm Up - 3 minute warm up maximum in all sports. This is especially key for Tennis. Tennis takes the longest time of the four sports, please try to play as fast as possible to avoid creating a queue for tennis courts.

10. By the final sport, one player will have a target number of points in order to win. Calculate the difference in points after Squash and deduct this value from 22. E.g. if Player A is +7 points ahead after Squash then they need (22-7) = 15 in Tennis to win outright.

11. Play should stop when one player reaches the winning target and therefore cannot be caught.

12. In the event of a draw, the match is decided by a gummi-arm point. This is a sudden death single point. Spin/Toss to decide who chooses to serve or receive. The server has one serve only. A draw is a valid result in a round robin match however.
