Over the past few months we’ve seen great interest in the variety of Badminton adult coaching sessions we have on offer, which have been increasing in popularity alongside our Junior Badminton programme. Starting in March, we’re now offering Drop-ins for our Adult Improver & Adult Intermediate/Advanced coaching sessions, meaning you can book for individual sessions whenever you want - no ties, no long commitment!
For the next three months, we’re also delighted to offer reduced prices for direct-debit coaching for both members and non-members - full details of cost savings can be found below.
If you're looking for a mixture of high level coaching & matchplay in one session, the daytime Practice and Play session on a Monday is now even better value too, whilst our regular Thursday and Saturday 'No Strings' sessions (only £3 for members) provide super social game time with like minded players!

Meet the Coaches!
At ARC we want to offer as much Badminton as possible, and make it as accessible as we can. Up until last year, our coaching team was very limited, but having expanded to a team of four Level 2 coaches, we're now able to run multiple coaching sessions every week! Working closely with Badminton England, we've established a pathway ranging from Mini and Teen Badminton, all the way up to our Intermediate and Advanced coaching sessions.
Our goal is to provide something for everyone, to contribute towards the health and wellbeing of those in our local community, as well as raising the profile of Badminton.
Our coaches are all passionate about Badminton, but are also all unique! Learn a little more about the ARC Badminton Coaches below!
Alistair
Coaching for over a decade (and playing for almost two), Alistair has a breadth of badminton knowledge. Coaching the Devon Junior County team since 2020, Alistair leans towards the performance side of the sport, but is enjoying the challenge of raising participation in North Devon since taking on the Lead Coach role at ARC.
Having played for the junior and senior Devon County teams, Alistair has a great deal of competitive experience in badminton. Also a dab hand at the other racket sports, he's represented GB Racketlon several times as a junior and senior, experiencing the highest level of the sport. Gaining a BSc in Sports Science as well as an MSc in Sports Psychology, Alistair aims to use this knowledge to further enhance his coaching and his own game!
Alistair’s sessions:
Teen Coaching on Mondays from 6pm - 7pm
Adult Improver Coaching on Mondays from 7pm - 8pm
Adult Intermediate/Advanced Coaching on Mondays from 8pm - 9:30pm
Andy
A lifelong player of many sports, Andy is a firm believer that badminton is a fantastic game that is accessible to everyone. Badminton is unique in its flexibility to be enjoyed by people of any age, gender, and ability! Andy, who also has experience coaching other sports, has played at club and league level, ranging from damp village halls to university sports centres.
Believing that enjoyment should be the aim as much as technical prowess, Andy aims to ensure his coaching is social, fun and informative. Andy is also the Badminton Trustee at ARC and is always working hard behind the scenes to progress the sport within our centre. Having already helped to raise the profile of badminton at ARC, he looks forward to seeing even more players taking to the courts!
Andy runs our Adult Practice and Play Coaching session on Mondays from 1pm - 2:30pm.
Jon
Since qualifying as a BE Level 2 Coach in 2024, Jon has gained a great deal of experience coaching badminton to a wide range of ages, abilities and group sizes, taking it in all his stride. With a focus on beginner and junior badminton, Jon has also started undertaking school outreach sessions, spreading the word and inspiring youngsters in our community!
With years of experience coaching dance, Jon knows how to make group sessions fun, varied and sociable. While he enjoys playing badminton several times per week, and takes part in local leagues and competitions, Jon is a true student of the game, and is always looking to learn more from experts and professionals to enhance his coaching and improve his own skills.

Adult No-Strings Practice on Thursdays from 7pm - 9pm.

Hoping to inspire many players old and young, Neil aims to get the best out of each and every player on the badminton courts!
