Our brains really are incredible. Read on and be amazed by these facts about our brains...

Our brains are made up of 3 pounds (or 1.3kg) of remarkable matter including over 86 billion neurons that keep on connecting with other neurons, creating an immense and ever growing storage unit!

Male brains tend to be larger that females – however this does not effect intelligence!

Over 60% of our brain is fat, so keeping good healthy fats in our diets really contribute to good brain health.

Our brains are not fully formed until the ripe age of 25! WOW!

Brain information can travel up to 350 miles per hour.

Here’s one I bet you didn’t know – our spinal cords stop growing at about age 4!

The spinal cord is instrumental in the communication between our body and brain.

Sleep is very important for maintaining neural pathways as well as our overall health.

Myokines?! What are these? They allow not only for communication within the muscle itself, but also for crosstalk between the muscle and other organs such as the brain, adipose tissue, bone, liver, gut, pancreas, vasculature, and skin – this means they hold a key role when we are correlating our successful outcomes in exercise interventions for mental health.

Our brains have a big job so lets make sure we take care of them!
